Overview of the PADI Open Water Diver Program
This is the most popular scuba diving course and serves as the entry point for beginners. It covers essential skills, knowledge, and safety procedures for scuba diving. The course includes e-learning (online theory), a confined water dive with a comprehensive set of exercises, 4 open water dives and a certification by PADI, the world’s most renowned scuba diving federation. Throughout the course, you will practice essential scuba skills under the guidance of our experienced instructor. Upon completing the Open Water Diver (OWD) course, you'll receive a certification that allows you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters in any country around the world.
If you don’t have enough time to complete full course, you can opt for the PADI Scuba Diver course, which is a shortened version of the OWD course, and takes only 1 day. Later on you can upgrade your license to Open Water Diver in any PADI dive center in the world. The Scuba Diver license allows you to dive down to 12 meters.

The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular scuba course and the starting point for anyone who has never dived. In 2 days at OLA Diving Center in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, you learn the skills, knowledge and safety procedures of diving, make 4 dives in the sea and get a PADI certification that lets you dive to 18 metres anywhere in the world.

Who can take the course
No previous diving experience is needed. The minimum age is 10. You need to be able to swim and be in good health. The course starts at 09:00 and takes 2 days.
How the course works
The course has three parts. First you study the theory with PADI eLearning, so in Tenerife all your time is practice. Then you make a confined water dive, where you go through the full set of course skills with your instructor. Finally you make 4 dives in the sea, using what you have learned and seeing Atlantic marine life.
We leave from Puerto Colón or Las Galletas. We are the only centre in Tenerife with two boats in two ports, and we choose the port depending on sea conditions so that your first dives are in the best conditions. Beginners and experienced divers dive in separate groups.
Where you dive
The course dives are in the south of Tenerife, where most of our dive sites are. This coast has caves, wrecks and walls, and you can see rays, turtles and dolphins. All sites in Dive spots.
Your instructor and the centre
OLA Diving Center is a PADI 5 Star dive centre at Avenida de Colón 3, Complejo Club Atlantis, unit 4, in Adeje. Our team speaks English, Russian, Slovak, Czech, German and French. When booking you can add photos of your course (€35) and a transfer from the south of Tenerife or from Playa la Arena (€15 per car).
Short on time — PADI Scuba Diver
If you don't have 2 days, take the PADI Scuba Diver course, a one-day short version of Open Water Diver. It lets you dive to 12 metres with a professional. Later you can complete the Open Water Diver certification at any PADI centre in the world.
After the course
When booking Open Water Diver you can add the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course with a 20% discount — €276 instead of €345. Minimum age for Advanced is 12. To keep diving, choose a dive package in Diving packages. All courses in PADI courses.

No. It is a beginner course. You need to be 10 or older, able to swim and in good health.

What if I only have one day?
Take the one-day PADI Scuba Diver course, €320 or €288 online. It lets you dive to 12 metres and later you can complete Open Water Diver.
How to get to Ola Diving Center
If you have your own car, you can come to our dive center Ola Diving in Costa Adeje. In case you need to be picked up, please choose one of the options:
- Transfer in Tenerife South if you are in the South (from Callao Salvaje to el Médano): 2 euros per person
- Transfer from Playa la Arena if you are in the West (Alcalá, Playa la Arena, Puerto Santiago): 15 euros per car, max 8 passengers in one car.
